Chukundi Salisbury ECSU 1992

Chukundi Salisbury Sr. is a proud third-generation alumnus of Elizabeth City State University, carrying forward a family legacy of Viking pride. His father attended ECSU before him, and both of his children have also chosen ECSU, with his son currently enrolled on campus. For Salisbury, ECSU is not just his alma mater—it is a family tradition that continues to inspire and shape generations.
With more than 28 years of public service and community leadership, Salisbury has built a reputation as a visionary organizer, civic leader, and creative entrepreneur. He is widely recognized for his events and iconic “Liz City” T-shirts, which have become intergenerational symbols of Viking spirit and connection.
In the Northwest, he has been a true ambassador for ECSU, often the sole representative at local college fairs, proudly carrying the university’s banner thousands of miles from campus. He has also been an active member of alumni chapters across the country, including Raleigh-Durham, Atlanta Metro, and others, ensuring that ECSU remains visible and celebrated in every community he touches. Public Service Leadership For nearly three decades, Salisbury has served with distinction at Seattle Parks & Recreation, managing environmental education, adventure programs, and social-emotional learning initiatives. His leadership has shaped transformative programs such as Youth Green Corps and the Camp Long Challenge Course, which provide young people with life-changing outdoor experiences that foster leadership, resilience, and teamwork. Entrepreneur, Advocate, and Organizer.
Beyond public service, Salisbury is an entrepreneur and organizer. He founded Seaspot Media Group, amplifying Black culture and community; Service Is A Lifestyle (SIAL), a nonprofit supporting grassroots initiatives; and Black Legacy Homeowners (BLH), a network dedicated to preserving and expanding Black homeownership. His work with BLH has positioned him as a leading advocate for housing justice, intergenerational wealth, and anti-displacement efforts. Cultural & Community Impact Through ventures like Black Homeowner Magazine, the “Lil Big Fella” comic series, and family-centered programs such as African American Males and Females Weekend at Camp Orkila,
Salisbury has consistently elevated stories, traditions, and spaces that empower communities. Commitment to ECSU As an alumnus and legacy father, Salisbury remains deeply committed to ECSU’s
mission.
His ongoing work as an ambassador, fundraiser, and representative at alumni chapters reflects his lifelong dedication to ensuring the university thrives for generations to come. He invites fellow alumni and supporters to join him in sustaining this mission of empowerment, leadership, and legacy
